Description

At Bury Council we are ambitious as a stock owning authority to deliver safe and secure homes for our residents, fostering vibrant neighbourhoods where tenants are at the heart of our communities. We have reacquired our stock of nearly 8,000 homes, and it is our vision to transform how we work to be a social landlord of choice, creating places where individuals aspire to live. We want housing to be an integral part of our council services, at the heart of supporting residents to lead healthy, fulfilling lives, and be central to our wider ambitions of inclusive growth and regeneration.

This is one of four key roles in our team that are integral to shaping our vision to build a service that is tenant focused, is fit for purpose and ensure that our homes are safe and meet decent homes standards, where we support those that are most in need.

Our Director of Housing Operations is a key appointment in our senior leadership team, reporting to the Executive Director of Strategy and Transformation, taking the lead for championing our vision for housing services. You will bring energy to our team and an enthusiasm to be a social housing provider that tenants can be proud of, ensuring that our homes are to the highest standards. With the incorporation of housing back into the council, this is an opportunity to ensure we develop a fully integrated service that embodies a collegiate approach as part of our neighbourhoods strategy that supports all residents within their communities. You will empower colleagues to work autonomously and make decisions on the best course of action within the areas of work, recognising that our teams are our greatest strength. Housing is key to the borough’s wider regeneration initiatives; therefore, you will need to link across our planning and growth teams. We want housing to be an enabling service that protects and supports the most vulnerable, addresses the homelessness challenges we face and gives people the choice through a well-managed housing options service.

This is a unique opportunity to join us at a key point in Bury’s journey, delivering a vision where social housing empowers residents to be part of our borough’s ambitions for the future. We are seeking a values-driven individual who is passionate about our vision, who believes in the power of what we are trying to achieve. Let’s Do It!
